Sweet Drive
The Sweet Drive churned out sticky sweet, tubelike tones somewhat reminiscent of Mesa's “blue” settings from their V-Twin pedal, only smoother and more refined. Kicking up the pedal's Intensity setting, it was easy to move into Billy Gibbons land with plenty of greasy goodness. This is definitely a pedal for those who don't have any need for ultra-saturated distortion—someone who is looking for something more akin to a totally dimed Gibson GA-40 rather than a Krank Revolution. Sweet Drive
I bought a Sweet Drive Pedal from you on Saturday at the Marin Guitar Show. The pedal is THE best Overdrive I've ever played. It's so musical, and combined with the touch sensitivity, it's turned my 1965 Deluxe Reverb from a sole Clean Machine into a virtual 2 channel beast. I played the thing for two hours solid and still didn't want to put my guitar down. In the immortal words of Gomer Pyle: THANK YOU....THANK YOU....THANK YOU!! - Herbert - California
Red Hot Overdrive
I'm going to go out on a limb on this one and say throw away your Marshall Guv'nor pedal now. After playing Tone Candy's Red Hot, you'll never go back. The Red Hot is more naturalistic, had less clipping, is more articulate, but still retains that “stack in a box” feel and sound. In a lot of ways the Red Hot picks up where the Sweet Drive leaves off. The Red Hot's overall vibe is a little more modern in its voicing than the Sweet Drive's and has more top-end sizzle than its milder-mannered cousin.
Like the Sweet Drive, the Red Hot retains ToneCandy's touch sensitivity and cleans up remarkably well when you lighten up on your attack or lower your guitar's volume. While the dirt never quite goes away, the Red Hot is definitely the more rock-oriented of the two pedals. Unlike a Marshall Guv'nor, the Red Hot doesn't get muddy or sputter when the gain setting is rolled back down. Although the Red Hot lacks the “deep” feature found on the GV-2 version, chances are you'll never miss it.

Red Hot Overdrive
Mike, your Red Hot/O-Drive is a bargain at its current price. It's totally organic-sounding, not gritty unless you want to push it, and pushes your amp into territory that's not even mapped yet. Thank you for making my tonequest complete. I won't be needing another overdrive pedal from anybodyelse ever again. THANK YOU! A thoroughly satisfied customer, Bob - Conneticut
Red Hot Overdrive
Mike! Just finished trying out your Red Hot O-Drive! I play a Tom Anderson Drop Top thru a Blues Deluxe and Fuchs ODS-50. When you play the amps clean and kick in the O-Drive, you get a Marshall-type overdrive. But when you have the amps in overdrive themselves and kick in the pedal, Wow!

Mike -
A friend of mine showed up to a gig with this pedal (which I've never heard of previously), and I instantly liked the sound quality. Also liked the compact size - less real estate on the pedalboard!
I received mine over the weekend - tried it with several guitars. I found it sounds especially good with single coils - just the right amount of overdrive, while cutting through nicely without altering the tone. Well done! - Mike
Double Overdrive
Hey Mike, Just wanted to send you a letter of gratitude for building one of the nicest overdrive pedals I have played through in a long time.I just purchased the Double Overdrive Pedal from Bananas at Large this week after careful consideration of about 10 boutique pedals in a shoot out. Yours certainly took the cake. My preference is the medium side of the pedal. Makes my silver face deluxe sound like a Matchless on steroids!! I am a working musician who also lives in Santa Rosa, California. Thanks again for building exceptional pedals both universally and locally. Best of Luck, Will
Double Overdrive
Hi Mike, Got the pedal this afternoon. It's pretty cool I'll say. I'm experimenting with the settings and have found many different tones that I think will be useful in my playing. I have run the pedal after my Mojo Hand Mule pedal and in front of my Tube Screamer. There's some serious tone going on in there when I mix and match the pedals. After the fine tuning of the pedal mix, I crank up the boost on the Clapton Strat itself and it will sustain for days if I want to let it. Cool pedal, I'm quite happy with it. Thanks, Rick

Hello I received your pedal. It is excellent. Noriyuki - Tokyo, Japan
Double Overdrive
This pedal is rich with harmonics while maintaining note definition and character of each pick up position not often found in pedals I've tested. One of my favorite features is that it sounds great at any level. Where many overdrives thin out at low volume, the TC-2SOD pedal retains its sparkle and drive at ridiculously low volume making bar owners and wedding planners equally happy. - Guitar Gearheads web site review
Double Overdrive
My favorite overdrive/distortion right now is a Tonecandy Double Overdrive/Distortion box. Boutique and pretty costly, but I was lucky enough to get one off eBay for a good bit under retail. The overdrive channel is a nice and transparent drive when dialed in properly for your set-up and the more drive adds what I'm guessing is two stages of gain that make a nice Marshall JCM800 or Peavey Ultra series kind of lead tone, while retaining the overall tonal qualities of your guitar and amp. I'm using mine with a Blackheart 5w head/cab and my trusty Strat, and it sounds totally awesome. - forum at brokenheadstock.com

I am a pro musician, I play many types of music with different bands and studio gigs. This pedal covers every dirty sound I'll ever need. Sounds good at low volume and sings when cranked. Cleans up nicely with guitar turned down. Very expressive pedal. If lost or stolen I would buy another. Sal - Harmony Central review

The unit is layed out well in a straight foward manner. First thing I noticed was the quality of the knobs and buttons and the sturdy metal construction of the box itself. Very honest sound in all levels of distortion as well as keeping a certain responsiveness to volume adjustments on the guitar pick ups to flavor the distortion and tonality of the sounds. I am extreamly satisfied with this product. Gage - Harmony Central review
